Serve Jehovah God Forever

Some say love is bound by borders - Some say love is bound by race - But we through God's direction - A brotherhood embrace - Thus a world of love united - Where Jehovah God is found - Where brother will meet brother - And love of God abound - Thus with pleasure I am sending - And with joy I will direct - My message now of welcome - With love and deep respect

"Stomp"

(858)

“Stomp”

I’d like to “stomp” with vengeance
Upon the scrawny neck
Of one who caused such damage
And left your home a wreck

That these thoughts are not Christian
I’m very much aware
So I must leave the “stomping”
In someone elses care

But he with perfect vengeance
Will one day “stomp” tis true
And he will then be acting
With perfect justice too

So I’ll await with pleasure
The actions of our God
He’ll find the neck here mentioned
And, upon it “He” will trod!

· 4-02-02 Maxine told me tonight that her home was broken into and robbed and she feels like she has been violated. I hate that this has happened to her so I had to write something. I hope she likes it ok. I also told her I would like to come out there and stomp on whoever did this to her so that is why I started thinking about “stomp”.

"Syllables and Sounds"

(621)

"Syllables and Sounds"

I love to write and write and write
I know not what about
But words I chase across the page
A message now to shout!!
My heart and mind I exercise
And prisoners I take
I capture all the words I need
And sentences I make
I fill the page with words of mirth
Or sad depressing times
I wrap them all around me too
Like clutching sticky vines!!
I gather up the needed strength
And off again I go
I’m chasing syllables and sounds
That once again will grow
Into a glorious serenade
That all will now attend
For I am writing all these words
To mesmerize my friends!!

· 8-14-98 – no reason just writing poems today and this is what I came up with.

"Nothing More To Dread"

(618)

“Nothing More To Dread”

Today I sit before this screen
And think about the day
What pleasures now before me seem
To gather now and stay
To know that all my friends are safe
And loved ones are secure
Contentment reigns upon my heart
I’m peaceful, easy, sure
Jehovah God has kept them safe
Through yet another night
Direction now he’s given them
To help them with their plight
And so today they’ll carry on
They’ll face the path ahead
For with Jehovah they’ll find
They’ve nothing more to dread
8-13-98 – thinking about friends and what they all have been going through recently.

"River of Life"

(665)

"River of Life"

To walk in the river
My strength to restore
To eat of the fruitage
Of trees by its shore
The river, a torrent
Erasing the years
My strength is improving
I’m losing my fears
I’m wading in comfort
And soon I will swim
The pain I’ve been feeling
Will slowly grow dim
The river I travel
Will deepen with time
The pleasures awaiting
One day will be mine
So I’ll bathe in the river
And rest in the shade
Partake of the healing
Jehovah has made

· 6-6-99 written about some talk sometime but cannot find notes other than poem thus do not know when it was written or name of speaker

"Arranging Words"

(606)

"Arranging Words"

I’m sitting here before this screen
And know not what to say
I want now to astound the world
And speak great things today
But words of meaning will not come
And wisdom has now flown
And all the wondrous thoughts of yore
My tongue does now bemoan
The words I chase across this page
Have made a valiant stand
I stretched them out and fought with them
Arranged them all by hand
So as you read this message seen
Remember what I’ve done
I chased them round the page you see
And had a lot of fun!

· 7-17-98 written just for the fun of it.

"A Storm"

(662)

"A Storm"

The windows rattle like as not
A storm is on its way
Today the wind around me howls
But causes no dismay
For now a struggle has begun
A storm begins to brew
It’s building up a battlement
To fire it’s cannons through
A rumble deep within its soul
The time of battle nears
A roar is heard across the land
A bolt of light appears
The cannon’s fired the war is on
It’s drawn the battle lines
And I am now surrounded by
Such loud majestic signs
I love the pealing thunderous sounds
Accompanying a storm
And revel in the glorious noise
It’s pitch and style and form
But when the storm has passed at last
The air is crisp and clean
The earth’s been washed and rinsed again
And lush and cool and green
What scent assails my nostrils now
For there has been a birth
A thunderous storm has passed this way
And freshened up the earth

* 5-20-99 thinking about the thunder storms and just decided to write about one.

"Departing Shadows"

(588)

"Departing Shadows"

The power of the wicked one
The world he does control
An evilness that fills the air
Is taking now its toll
The shadows reach across the land
To snuff the light of hope
And leave behind the searching heart
In darkness now to grope
But through the dreadful, murky mist
A ray of light is seen
Thus they will part the haze ahead
And ask: “what does it mean?”
The light will grow much brighter still
As on God’s word they feed
They’ll leave behind the shadowland
With love and joy they’ll read
The air will clear the mist will lift
The sun begins to shine
For they have found Jehovah God
And them he will refine
So with God’s knowledge they have seen
And by his message grown
And shadows all across the land
Away from them have flown

"Mephistopheles"

(569)

"Mephistopheles"

Mephistopheles you Devil
A word that fits her too
A small white fluffy creature
It just cannot be true
An image of an angel
Does not appear to me
Though small and white and fluffy
A Devil now I see
Her mistress loves her truly
Though she is quite a pest
Mephistopheles is present
Your patience now she’ll test
Her image is deceiving
She has a lovely flair
But Satan now is hiding
Beneath that fluffy hair!
So watch her now with caution
She’s sneaky don’t you know
She’ll attack you without warning
Then off again she’ll go!
Prepare yourself for action
And wait and watch and see
Find a place of cover
For around again she’ll be
Her innocent appearance
Deceives you now with ease
But under all that fluff you’ll find
A wee Mephistopheles!

· 6-7-98 Jan Farinsky has a little fluffy dog she calls Angel but it is far from an angel it is a pest and her son called it Mephistopheles so I wrote the above poem about it. That word is pronounced Meh fah tho leez – means Devil or Satan.

"Grandpas Chair"

(547)

"Grandpas Chair"

Now every grandpa needs a chair
To rock his babies in
And to and fro he’ll go with them
Til sleepy times begin
So rock your babies William dear
And hold them close to you
They’ll remember how it felt
When grandpa rocked them too
So to and fro you’ll go again
With creaky groaning chair
For of the creaks and groans you’ll find
Your babies are aware
Such soothing sounds they’ve come to love
Without a single word
For grandpa rocks them to and fro
When creaks and groans are heard

8-27-98 written for Bill because he recently became a grandpa again.

"Winter Descends"

(486)

“Winter Descends”

The snow is all around us
The winter now descends
It brings no joy or pleasure
My energy it spends
It drains from me the pleasure
Of spring and summer ways
And takes away my comfort
With cold and bitter days
But off into the distance
A month or two ahead
The spring and its arrival
Means winter will be dead!

*12-11-97 I have at least one winter poem every year – I guess I just don’t care for winter!

"Bells of Spring"

(319)

"Bells of Spring"

The wind is howling like as not
The rain will soon be here
But oh what joy a thunderstorm
With all her noise is near
With brilliant lights and thunderbolts
She’ll flash across the sky
And leave behind the scent of spring
The earth will heave a sigh
For winters washed away at last
With all her grim design
And colors now will splash across
Each fence and hill they climb
So listen to the howling wind
Remember now its goal
To bring to life the earth again
The bells of spring must toll

· I found this half finished and sat down and finished it today – finished it from the line “For winters washed…..” – 8-20-94

"I Am Home"

(322)

“I Am Home”

I am home my stay is over
Once again I am alone
But Jehovah will surround me
And his love will thus atone
For the loss that I am feeling
He will take away the pain
With his love he will protect me
Once again I will regain
All the strength and love that’s needed
To once more my life renew
Thus each day I will grow stronger
And my heart will mend it’s true
But for now my heart is mourning
With an ache that makes me weep
And the tears I shed in sorrow
From the pain I feel so deep
Thus each day as I go forward
All the mournful pain recedes
And my heart is growing stronger
As upon God’s word I feed

· 9-9-94 it will take time to heal – how much time I do not know but time just the same

"Empty"

(321)

“Empty”

My mothers house is empty
I sit here in the dark
For soon I must be leaving
And it will break my heart
The final move is coming
And others now will find
The home that was my mothers
That I must leave behind
A place to raise a family
The children now will tell
Young voices raised in laughter
Within her home will dwell
So run and laugh and tumble
Throughout the rooms within
My mothers love will linger
Through all the noise and din

· 8-25-94 day before the garage sale and I know there isn’t much time left before I go back to Vinton and leave my mothers home to strangers.

"The Sale"

(320)

“The Sale”

The sale begins tomorrow Mom
Your bits and parts will go
I hate to price the things I must
And place them in a row
With aching heart and falling tears
I’ll watch them as they leave
For they with others now will go
And for them I will grieve
But someone else will make a home
For all your precious bits
And they’ll now go upon their shelves
And proudly they will sit
For they have found a treasure trove
In all your bits and parts
And others now will learn to love
The pieces of your heart

· 8-23-94 getting ready for Mom’s garage sale – “Garage Sale to Settle Estate”

"In My Heart"

(318)
"In My Heart"

My mother I love you
I miss you each day
For my heart is aching
And these words I say
My life must go onward
For it has been blessed
I’ll carry you always
In my heart you rest
So from this day forward
The healing will start
For with you there cradled
You’ll mend now my heart

· 9-19-94 still at Mom’s house getting ready for the sale – thinking about Mom a lot – God, how I miss her – Life will never be the same there is a big hole blasted out of it.

"Her Bits and Parts"

(316)
"Her Bits And Parts"

All my mothers things around
Scattered here and there
Memories for all to keep
Oh how much we care
Life is changing drastically
Never more the same
Spread throughout the house you see
All that now remains
Each one takes some to their homes
All her bits and parts
And across the land you’ll find
Pieces of her heart

· Aug. 3,1994 dividing up Mom’s things – Lura, me and Bill, Aunt Betty and Uncle David – so things went to Virginia, Texas, Iowa

"The Watch Begins"

(314)
"The Watch Begins"

Gather round for comfort
Standing side by side
Seek too help each other
Never try to hide
Oh the ache and sorrow
Tears that fall like rain
Loving one another
Try to ease the pain
Give now to each other
As the watch begins
Always now together
Share the strength within

· 7-27-94 mom – family together at hospital watching and caring for mom (died 4:40 a.m. on 7-28-94)
· my poor sweet mother – I await the resurrection to see you again – I love you Mom, Pat

"Mothers"

(244)

"Mothers"

What special people mothers are
We love them one and all
Their strength they give in raising us
They teach us how to fall
For life is full of bumps and pain
With hidden stumbling blocks
And mothers wash away the tears
And in their arms we’re rocked
Throughout your life these blocks appear
And mothers love is there
Prepared to ease the load you fear
With all her love and care
Now show your children of this love
Its your turn now to give
You’re teaching others how to fall
Thus strengthen them to live
So through the generations past
A mothers love has grown
And down through each and every child
This love has since been shown

· 12-1-92 started this for Mom but somehow got all past and future mothers involved- sent it to Mom any how.

"Shovels and Salt"

(229)
"Shovels and Salt"

The bleak days of winter
Are looming ahead
With gray skies and snow storms
For summer is dead
The days now are bitter
The winter grows bold
The weather is awful
And nasty and cold
The leaves have all fallen
The colors have fled
The trees are all naked
Asleep in their beds
For winter is coming
We all know it’s true
The air is quite nippy
And turns your breathe blue
The gloves and the mittens
The jackets and vests
All part of the season
Of cold at its best
There’s frost on the fence line
It did indeed freeze
For temperatures hover
At twenty degrees
But each day that passes
Means soon it will hault
So on with the season
Of shovels and salt!

*10-17-92 cold outside

The Music of Spring

The colors the textures
The seeds of the earth
The sound of the music
As flowers give birth
The vine of the trumpet
(Trumpet Vine)
The tinkling of bells
(Blue Bells)
For Jacks in his pulpit
And all seems quite well
Where hearts that are bleeding
(Bleeding Hearts)
For Lace of the queen
(Queen Annes Lace)
And ferns of the forest
Are luscious and green
Her birth we’re awaiting
For colors we thirst
For winter is present
And coating the earth
But under the blanket
Of frost that is sharp
The music of springtime
Is tuning her harp

· written about spring that right now seems so far away because it is November 6,1992 and we are just entering winter.
· Mom’s comment about this was “I thought you didn’t know anything about flowers?” – I told her I only know their names.
* the Trumpet Vine, Blue Bells, Jack In the Pulpits, Bleeding Hearts, Queen Annes Lace. All are awaited for they bring the arrival of spring.

"Ice of November"

(242)
"Ice of November"

The trees of the forest
Are coated with glass
The ice of November
Has buried the grass
Descending with anger
It covers your path
For winter’s arrived with
Impatience and wrath
The storms of December
Are lurking ahead
And each day that passes
Means one less to dread
Temperatures plummet
The warmth’s left the land
The start of the new year
Is now close at hand
January’s presence
Is outside the door
With cold so unpleasant
That you’ve felt before
So cover the windows
Then turn up the heat
And taste of the winter
Now placed at your feet

*11-27-92 a couple of days after the first winter storm of the year – been white crisp fog and everything is coated with white frost – even antennas on cars have strange frost all over them.
